Outlaw Christian: Finding Authentic Faith by Breaking the “Rules”
Outlaw Christianity: (noun)
1. a new, life-giving faith for those who ache for a more authentic relationship with God and other people no longer having to hide their doubt, anger, grief, scars, or questions
2. an honest, outside-the-law faith for those seeking a hope that really speaks to the world’s hurt
taken from Outlaw Christian: Finding Authentic Faith by Breaking the “Rules”
The title of the retreat comes from Jacqueline A. Bussie’s book. In this book, Bussie challenges the reader to break away from the rules we’ve grown up with in the Church and use that freedom to find a more personal, authentic, deeper faith.
It is in that spirit that we will be taking a look at some of the “rules” that we, as a congregation, follow and dare to ask, “what if we did something else?” This retreat will not directly follow the book. However, it is recommended that you read the book on general principles. It’s really good!
This year’s retreat will be April 5-7 at the beautiful Watson Homestead.
More details will be posted as we get closer to the retreat!
