Join us for Wellness on Wednesdays at 9:30AM! Come and enjoy fun and friendship, with a program, chair exercise, and blood pressure check. A $2 donation is requested. The program schedule:
September 28 – “Lighthouses and Lobsters: A Week DownEast” The DownEast & Acadia region of Maine offers the delicacy craved by many and fished by a hardy few. More than one-third of the state’s lighthouses dot the coastline here. Mount Desert Island is home to the only national park in New England. You can cruise the harbors watching for wildlife, hike rugged trails or gradually sloped carriage roads, or drive the 27-mile Park Loop Road and be awed by the setting sun on the top of Cadillac Mountain. Join Lisa Wemett and Terry Mulee to explore the beauty and rich history of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
October 5 – Matt Gallo from the Finger Lakes PRISM (Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management) will teach us about the invasive species that are living right in your yard! Learn what invasive species are, why they’re a threat, and what you can do to stop them in this informative look at one of our most ecologically destructive problems.
October 12 – Tim McDonnell is a long-time member of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at RIT, an organization that promotes education for people over 50. He has participated in geographic studies of historic buildings and will be with us to share the course he taught about Cobblestone Buildings.
October 19 – Did you know that homeless teens are more than 3.5 times more likely to drop out of high school than their housed peers? Spirit NYS is a program that supports homeless students to graduate high school. Amy Breitenborn will be with us to share this vital effort to help kids escape homelessness and break the poverty cycle.
October 26 – Get ready for Halloween fun. Wear your costume, play games for prizes and enjoy some yummy treats.
